The final of the super-middleweight division takes place on Friday and sees two Brits face off – George Groves and Callum Smith – with around £7million, plus the Muhammad Ali Trophy, going to the victor.
Groves has advanced to the final by defeating Jamie Cox and Chris Eubank Jr.
The 30-year-old Londoner was the top super-middleweight seed in the inaugural WBSS tournament and is the WBA ‘super’ champion.
He saw off Cox in four rounds last October and then produced a superb performance to secure a unanimous points win over Eubank Jr in February.
Groves dislocated his left shoulder late on against Eubank Jr and has since had surgery, which delayed the showdown with Smith.
Scouser Smith, who is two years Groves’ junior, secured his spot in the final by defeating Erik Skoglund and then Nieky Holzken – a late replacement for Jurgen Braehmer – on points.
